Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man arrested for DUI after hit and run

A 24 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 4:10 a.m. in the area of U.S. Highway 395 South and Topsy Lane on multiple misdemeanor offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including hit and run, first offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, failure to yield, no driver's license and driving without headlights.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy responded about two hours earlier to a report of a hit and run on Highland Drive. The reporting party (RP) stated a red Corvette had struck her vehicle that was parked against the curb and then sped away.

Damage to the victim's vehicle was examined and broken pieces of the suspect vehicle were recovered. The RP stated there should be moderate to major damage to the front right bumper of the suspect vehicle.

A red Corvette was later observed by law enforcement to be traveling southbound on South Carson Street. It featured right front bumper damage and was traveling without headlights or tail lights.

The suspect vehicle failed to pull over once the deputy had caught up to it and activated emergency lights. After passing through the Topsy Lane intersection, failing to yield, the Corvette came to a stop. The deputy detained the driver and passenger.

The driver exhibited a strong odor of alcohol as he spoke to the deputy. He had no driver's license on him, the report said, and he admitted to drinking earlier in the evening at his home.

The suspect denied any knowledge of the hit and run incident and told law enforcement that his friend had been driving the vehicle earlier in the evening. But he was unable to recall his friend's name or the time that his friend had been driving the Corvette.

The suspect refused voluntary conset to field sobriety testing (FST) but he did agree to perform a preliminary breath test (PBT), which yielded a result of .236 percent breath-alcohol content (BAC).

He was handcuffed at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

The suspect, whose age and identity were verified, admitted to having drank a beer earlier in the evening. She consented to FSTs, which showed signs of impairment, as well as to a PBT that yielded BAC of .071 percent.

She was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000

— A 27 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 2:02 a.m. in the 300 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor first offense DUI alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

The driver was agitated upon law enforcement contact because he had to return to pick up his girlfriend's purse. He smelled of alcohol and exhibited red, watery eyes on observation by authorities.

The suspect struggled to get his driver's license out of his wallet, admitting to having drank 2-3 beers earlier. He consented to FSTs, which showed signs of impairment, as well as a PBT that yielded .018 percent at the scene.

The suspect later blew .157 percent BAC at the Carson City Jail. He was arrested and booked without incident. Bail: $1,000.

— A 45 year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:13 a.m. in the 10 block of College Parkway on an active misdemeanor contempt warrant issued by the Carson City Justice Court as well as driving on suspended registration, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a traffic stop was made on the vehicle the suspect was driving because the driver side headlight was out. A records check on the vehicle registration confirmed it was suspended and an outstanding bench warrant was also attached to it.

The driver identified herself, and it matched the individual whose warrant was attached to the vehicle registration. She was then detained in handcuffs and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $100.
