Carson City deputies arrest pair for meth possession, intent to sell

Two were arrested early Saturday morning for suspicion of meth possession and possession with intent to sell, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Diego Michael Coralles, 45, and Meagen Rene Turkington, 25, were arrested in the area of East Nye Lane and Lavender Circle at 1:16 a.m.

Coralles faces charges of providing false identification to avoid prosecution, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and four misdemeanors: Driving with a suspended driver’s license, no proof of insurance, fictitious registration and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Turkington faces felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, gross misdemeanor concealing evidence and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a deputy patrolling the area observed a vehicle driving and using a flashlight to light up both residences and businesses. The driver, Coralles, noticed the officer’s presence, slammed on the brakes and pulled over to the right, parked and exited the vehicle along with Turkington.

The deputy instructed both to return to their vehicle and made contact with them. The woman began to frantically manipulate her clothing as if she were concealing something, the arrest report states. Deputies interviewed the driver, who said he did not have any type of identification on him and verbally identified himself with a name that turned out to be false. He said he had bought the car recently and did not have insurance or registration, the report states.

During the investigation the arresting deputy asked Turkington if she had any drugs in the vehicle. The woman stated not to her knowledge, according to the arrest report.

Around that time dispatch advised the vehicle license plate and the vehicle’s VIN did not match. Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, a canine sniff was done on the exterior of the vehicle. The dog alerted positive.

During a search of the vehicle deputies located several burnt tin foil pieces and hypodermic needles, several “tooter” straws commonly used to ingest drugs, baggies and a scale, used to weigh, repackage and sell drugs.

In the vehicle deputies located several new packaged items such as liquor, clothing and painting supplies. The woman admitted later the items were stolen and given to Coralles by a friend in exchange for money owed. The man denied knowing about the items and claimed they belonged to Turkington, the arrest report states.

The man was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak, and said he lied and gave the name of his brother as his verbal identification. Turkington was read her Miranda rights and agreed to speak. She said she hid a baggie of methamphetamine inside her bra after being told to hide it by Coralles, the arrest report states.

She was asked if she had more narcotics on her. She initially denied and then stated she “may” have hidden methamphetamine inside her pants. At jail she was searched and a baggie of methamphetamine was found on her person. Bail for Coralles: $15,123. Bail for Turkington: $11,137.
