Carson City arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of eluding, aiming gun at person and shooting out windows

A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday morning for felony suspicion of eluding after allegedly pointing a pellet gun at a victim inside a bar, shooting out windows of a vehicle and then driving 80 mph in the wrong direction on Stewart Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Arrested was Javier Martinez who also faces gross misdemeanor charges of aiming a firearm at a person, destruction of property and misdemeanor assault.

According to the arrest report, a deputy saw a blue colored vehicle going at a high rate of speed, northbound on Stewart Street near Washington Street. The officer followed the vehicle, where it made an abrupt turn into the parking lot of an East William Street bar. The officer turned on his flashing lights and pulled in behind the vehicle.

As the officer exited the patrol vehicle he heard a male subject near a truck yell “go get them.” The vehicle accelerated rapidly east out of the parking lot, driving over a curb going north on Stewart Street, 80 mph in a 25 mph zone, in the wrong direction, the arrest report states.

The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at Long Street then proceeded onto several streets eventually going north on Northgate. The vehicle failed to stop at College Parkway, traveling at 80 mph, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

It continued west on Manzanita then west on Bonanza. The vehicle was found abandoned at a dead end of Shenandoah and Lango streets. A pellet handgun was located on the floor board of the vehicle on the driver’s side.

A victim called and said he was standing by at the bar on William Street. An investigation determined that the victim’s vehicle had its right and rear passenger window shot out. Detectives determined Martinez as the alleged shooter and driver.

It was also learned the suspect allegedly pointed the pellet hand gun at the victim at another bar. Martinez was located in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road and taken into custody at 3:38 a.m. Bail: $10,637.
