Man wanted on felony battery charge arrested at Carson City restaurant

A Carson City man wanted on a felony charge of battery causing substantial bodily harm in which the victim suffered severe eye damage was taken into custody Saturday night.
Rico Wiggins, 27, was arrested at around 9:25 p.m. at a restaurant in the 3800 block of South Carson Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. A 28-year-old man, Bryan Gaudette, was also arrested on suspicion of harboring a fugitive, a felony.

According to the arrest report, officers assigned with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team were contacted by a Douglas County law officer regarding Wiggins and his whereabouts. Wiggins had agreed to meet with a woman at a restaurant and said he was bringing a friend along with him, according to the arrest report. The pair arrived in Gaudette’s gray Audi and were taken into custody, the arrest report states.

Wiggins faces a felony warrant charge for battery. Bail: $25,000. Gaudette faces a felony charge, suspicion of harboring a fugitive. Bail: $50,000.

In other arrests:
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 4:11 p.m. in the 1500 block of Fairview Drive on misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and speeding. The man was stopped after going 57 mph in a 35 mph. Bail: $1,269.

— A 19-year-old Dayton man was arrested Saturday, 3 p.m. in the area of Sherman and College Parkway on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the woman told officers her boyfriend attempted to choke her when he attempted to get a phone from her. Officers observed a scratch on the back of the woman’s neck consistent with her allegation. The man was stopped while driving a truck. He said there was an argument but denied choking the woman. Bail: $3,137

—28-year-old Coleville man was arrested Saturday, 5:12 a.m. in the area of North Carson and William Street on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. According to the arrest report, a reporting witness said they observed the man hit a retaining wall while driving southbound on College Parkway.

Officers stopped the man and asked if he had anything to drink. The man replied “I had a pitcher of beer,” the arrest reports states. He was given a series of standardized field sobriety tests where he showed signs of impairment. He blew a .130 on a preliminary breath test, the arrest report states. Bail: $1,137.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 1 a.m. in the 2200 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of DUI and speeding. According to the arrest report, officers observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Carson Street going 52 in a posted 35 mph zone. He was stopped. Officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. The man told officer he had consumed a couple beers and that he would be willing to participate in field sobriety tests. Of the tests, officers observed six signs of possible impairment. He was arrested and volunteered to submit a blood sample. Bail: $1,244.

— Two were arrested at a Carson City motel Friday on felony charges. Helen Marie Holguin, 39, faces charges of suspicion, maintaining a drug house, possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon, and two lesser charges. A 19-year-old, Brent Michael Martin, was also arrested on a felony parole and probation charge, and possession of a controlled substance, also a felony, and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to a motel in the 1400 block of North Carson Street regarding concern about the welfare of the two. On arrival officers identified themselves and knocked on the door. Inside were Holguin, two other females and Martin. The officer asked if he could look inside the room and Holguin replied that she had nothing to hide, according to the arrest report. Officers observed a brown box with drug paraphernalia in plain view.

The box contained a baggie of around .5 grams of methamphetamine, an unmarked prescription bottle with assorted pills, including Trazadone, Setraline, a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine, a glass marijuana pipe, two digital scales, baggies with meth residue, water bongs, and three double-sided knives all within plain view. Bail for Holguin: $29,132. No bail hold for Martin for the alleged parole and probation violation and $2,500 for possession of a controlled substance.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man, Francisco Robles-Gonzalez, was arrested Friday, 8:44 a.m. in the 1200 block of Monte Rosa on suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation and assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies.

According to the arrest report, officers met with the victim who came into the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. The victim stated she had gotten into an argument with the man and that he strangled her. Officers observed scratch marks on the woman’s throat. She further stated she locked herself in her room for the rest of the night after the alleged assault.
The victim said that on Friday morning she left her residence to go to work and the man followed her and tried to hit her with his car.

Officers learned the man was at the 1200 block of Monte Rosa, at the woman’s home. The man admitted to getting into a fight with the woman and that she had thrown his cell phone. He stated he had put his hands on her chest near her throat and told her to stop.The officer asked him if he had followed her to work and he told officer he did. The man was asked if he had tried to hit her with his vehicle and he told the officer he had not but was pulling into a parking space next to her, the arrest report states.
Due to the circumstances and the marks on the woman’s neck, officers arrested the man on suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation and assault with a deadly weapon. Bail: $35,000.

— A 44-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman, Wendy Susan Schumacher, was arrested Friday in the 2500 block of Blue Haven Lane on suspicion of felony and misdemeanor drug charges, including possession of methamphetamine, and a prescription pill without a prescription. A 44-year-old Carson City man was also arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and obstructing an officer. Bail for Schumacher, $10,559. Bail for the 44-year-old man, $2,276.

— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 12:22 p.m. in the 2400 block of Ravenshorn Drive in Carson City on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the arrest report, officers met with the victim who said the man had been drinking all night. The two began to argue and the man said he wanted the woman’s cell phone. When she didn’t give him the cell phone the man allegedly punched her in the face several times with a closed fist. Officers observed the woman’s nose and lip were bleeding and she had blood on her face and scratches on her chest.
Officers arrested the man at the home where the alleged battery took place. Bail: $3,137.

— A Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 7:56 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor charge of violating bail conditions. Officers were called to a motel where the woman had appeared confused and was not registered. On scene officers made contact with the woman. A check through dispatch showed the woman was on Alternative Sentencing with a “no alcohol” clause, the arrest report states. She provided a breath sample with results of a .247. Bail: $3,000.

— A Dayton man, John Fletcher, was booked Friday into Carson City Jail on felony warrant charges of grand larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. The warrant was issued Sept. 2, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $15,000.

— A 31-year-old Gardnerville woman was booked into jail Friday, 3:55 p.m. on a misdemeanor battery warrant issued August 21, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 46-year-old Mound House man was booked Friday, 3:55 p.m. on four misdemeanor warrant charges including two out of Lyon County, and two in Carson City: contempt of court and failure to appear, issued in June and August of 2013. Bail: $3,691.

— A 45-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 9:12 p.m. in the area of West College Parkway and Imperial Way on misdemeanor suspicion of DUI. Officers learned a vehicle driving in the area was suspected of being intoxicated. Officers followed the vehicle where the woman failed to use a turn signal. Officers made contact with the woman, who had an odor alcohol and admitted to having a 16-ounce Steel Reserve can of beer earlier. She agreed to a preliminary breath test that indicated a .165. At jail she agreed to provide breath samples, which registered. .198, .219 and .204. Bail: $1,137.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
