Carson City Toys for Tots in 'dire need' of volunteers, says Ron Wood Center
For many local children, Toys for Tots has made all the difference in their lives when it comes to the holidays. Due to COVID-19 this year, the need will be even greater, but in order to make it happen, volunteers are needed.
According to Joyce Buckingham, Executive Director of the Ron Wood Center, only about ten percent of the normal turn out for Toys for Tots volunteers have appeared, due to COVID-19 and the Governor's most recent directive, she said.
"Toys For Tots is expecting a large demand this holiday season," said Buckingham. "Our volunteering focus is to provide toys to children in need in a safe and healthy manner. Everyone must wear a mask, and sanitation stations are in place."
Volunteer opportunities are available both during the day as well as the evening, and anyone interested in COVID safe volunteering opportunities should call Joyce with the Ron Wood Family Resource Center at (775) 884-2269.
