Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Woman jailed on DUI, hit and run charges

A 39-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 12:08 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Minnesota Street on misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit and run causing an accident.
According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the area after the reporting witness said her parked car had been struck by an SUV that sped away. Upon arrival the officer saw the SUV with the driver’s side door opened in the 1000 block of South Minnesota.
The victim said she was putting groceries in the back of her car when she saw the SUV driving toward her. She said she had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. The SUV then struck the back of her car and continued driving southbound down Minnesota. The officer asked the witness if she was able to see the driver. The woman said she saw the female driver and identified her as the driver of the SUV.
The officer spoke with the driver of the SUV and asked if she needed medical attention because she was involved in the accident. The woman said she was OK. Officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. She had slurred speech and red, watery eyes. The officer asked the woman for her driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. The officer asked the woman multiple times before she was able to provide the documents.
The officer asked the woman if she had been drinking. The woman said she had two drinks. The officer asked if she knew she was in an accident. The woman said “if I was in an accident, I will pay for it.” The woman declined to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested. The woman was asked multiple times if she would freely and voluntarily submit to an evidentiary breath or blood test. The woman refused to answer or acknowledge the question. Due to her refusal, a telephonic search warrant for a blood test was sought and agreed to at 1:52 a.m. Bail: $1,774.
In other arrests: A 26-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Friday, 10:30 a.m. on two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued Nov. 5, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $6,000.
— A 45-year-old Carson City woman, Katina Flynn, was arrested Thursday, 5:51 p.m. in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road on a felony parole and probation violation and misdemeanor petit larceny. According to the arrest report, the woman allegedly was seen by Kohl’s security taking several items from the store, valued at $106.97, and leaving without paying. Loss prevention was able to get a license plate number and gave it to deputies. Officers arrived at the home, confirmed her identity and took her into custody. Bail amount for the petit larceny charge, $352. She was placed on a no bail hold, in lieu of a hearing, by parole and probation for violation of conditions, a felony.
— A 21-year-old Carson City woman, Shayla Marie Ferber, was arrested Thursday, 8:21 p.m. on felony suspicion of parole and probation violation. The woman was inside a casino bar and lounge area. Dispatch advised she was on probation with conditions to not be in a bar or lounge and she was arrested. She was placed on a no bail hold in lieu of a hearing.
— A 35-year-old Carson City man, Jose Louis Elizondo, was arrested Wednesday, 8:25 p.m. in the area of Brown and Gordon streets on a felony charge of parole and probation violation. According to the arrest report, the man was in violation of probation for being out past a conditioned curfew and having alcoholic beverages. Officers found four tall cans of Mickey’s Ice beers in the back seat and a Sparks alcoholic drink in the front seat. Bail: He was placed on a no bail hold in lieu of a hearing.
