Election officials answer questions regarding ballot status of Carson City voters

Some Carson City voters are experiencing issues with an update on whether or not their ballots have been counted, but it’s an issue with data entry, not with the actual counting of ballots, according to the Carson City Clerk’s Office and the Secretary of State’s Office.
According to Jennifer Russell, the Public Information Officer for the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office, one of the reasons that Carson City voters are seeing their ballots as “received” instead of “counted” is due to the Ballottrax system, not necessarily the individual county election departments.
Russell said manually entering the data is time consuming, which could be a reason for the delay.
Carson City Clerk Aubrey Rowlatt said that at this time, priority is going towards ballot processing, but they are updating ballot information as often as possible on the Carson City Elections Office webpage.
Rowlatt said for all up-to-date information they have currently posted, Carson City residents should go to the Carson City Clerk’s page.
“We have the in-person Early Voter and Election Day voter list posted as well as mail ballot status,” said Rowlatt. “The state’s website will not show on a voter’s record that they voted in-person because the vote credit is not posted until after the canvass of the election.”
On the Carson City Elections Office page, voters can find a full list of mail-in ballot status. Each status will either have a code of ACCE, which means the ballot has been accepted, or REJE, which means the ballot was rejected.
This is only for mail-in ballots. If a resident voted in person, either on Election Day or during early voting, their vote has been counted, regardless of what Ballottrax has marked down.
Voter history will be updated only once all ballots have been counted and closed, which cannot happen by state law until Tuesday at the earliest.
Residents are reminded that the count is not finished yet, and ballots are allowed to be received by state law until Tuesday. Voters should check back for any updates.
The Secretary of State’s Office will issue a press release regarding the issues with Ballottrax at a later time.
