NHP charges driver in fatal pedestrian hit and run crash Thursday in Carson City
The Nevada Highway Patrol arrested a Reno man in connection with Thursday night's fatal pedestrian hit and run crash on South Carson Street near I-580 in Carson City.
Catarino Sotelo Jacinto was taken into custody at his home in Reno following an investigation into the fatal crash in which an adult male pedestrian was struck and killed.
Located at the scene of the crash was a license plate that belonged to the suspect's vehicle, a 2002 Nissan pickup, said NHP Trooper Charles Caster. NHP Troopers were able to match the license plate to the Reno address of the driver. Troopers went to the address and made the arrest, said Caster.
NHP has not released the name of the victim, pending for notification of family. The incident happened at around 6:50 p.m. Thursday.
Suspect Sotelo Jacinto was booked for suspicion of felony hit and run causing death; failure to report a crash or accident, a gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor duty to render aid.
