Carson City area weather: Valley rain, Sierra snow possible by first weekend of November
After a week of unseasonably warm temperatures and picture-perfect conditions for Saturday's Nevada Day parade, next weekend may look entirely different with the arrival of the first moderate Atmospheric River-type system that may bring snow to the Sierra and foothills and rain to the valleys, according to the National Weather Service.
While the details on how much, where, and type of precipitation are uncertain at this time, it is clear that the first potentially significant colder system will move into the Sierra, prompting the weather service to issue a special weather statement Sunday.
Snow levels could fall to below 5,500 feet by Saturday, according to the weather service. Now may be a good time to make preparations for wintry conditions, especially in the Sierra and foothills. Follow the tips listed in the graphic above to prepare for valley rain and mountain snow.
As for early this week, the forecast for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas calls for mostly sunny skies with daytime highs ranging from the mid-60s to low 70s through Thursday.
