Douglas County approves interlocal agreement with Genoa to appoint interim town manager
The Town of Genoa approved an interlocal agreement to appoint Melissa Blosser as interim town manager.
The contract was approved by the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 18 at its board meeting. The contract is month-to-month for the amount of $4,500 with the option of up to six months.
Former Town Manager Phil Ritger has accepted a position as the new Public Works director for Douglas County.
Melissa Blosser has served as the Douglas County Community Relations Manager and Public Information Officer for the past five and a half years.
Her most relevant past experience includes six years working as the Business Administrator for the Lassen County Fair in Susanville, CA, where she assisted in managing seasonal employees, service and vendor contracts and marketing large events. Melissa also assisted the fair manager with preparation of board agendas and minutes.
“The Town of Genoa is truly a special place and I am honored to be serving the community in this capacity,” said Melissa Blosser. “I intend to provide support and stability through Douglas County for the township allowing them to take the time needed to find a permanent replacement.”
Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Communications and Public Relations. She will graduate in the Fall of 2018 with a degree in Mass Communication from South Dakota State University School of Journalism. She resides in the town of Minden and has two sons.
Melissa Blosser will assume the position on Oct. 25, 2018. She will also remain the Douglas County community relations manager and public information officer splitting her duties between the two roles.
