Rain may return to Carson City region by Sunday night
Carson City and portions of Western Nevada could see heavy rain by the end of the weekend, the National Weather Service in Reno reports.
A weather system should move through central California into the southern Sierra on Sunday night into Monday morning bringing "abundant moisture" for the region, including snow in the Sierra above 8,000 feet.
The storm track is south of Interstate 80, and could bring with it hail and localized flooding that could make travel difficult, according to the weather service and Carsonweather.com.
Like the storm system that came to the region earlier this month, snow levels should remain above 8,000 to 8,500 feet. Travel over Mount Rose Highway, Ebbets Monitor, Sonora and Tioga passes may be difficult and susceptible to closure Sunday night and Monday morning, the weather service notes.
