Visualize Future Careers at WNC Technical Education Open House
Don’t just dream about a great job in your future. Start making it a reality by checking out Western Nevada College technical facilities and programs that lead to good jobs. Local residents can receive a first-hand look at new labs and equipment in WNC’s Career and Technical Education programs on Friday, Oct. 23, 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The Construction-Manufacturing Open House is centered in WNC’s Donald W. Reynolds Center for Technology, on the Carson City campus, 2201 West College Parkway.
“It’s an informational night,” said Construction Management Instructor Robert Ford. “Come by and we’ll give you a tour and answer any questions you might have.” Visitors will receive a tour of facilities, learn about career options, and talk to graduates and current students, as well as WNC professors. Snacks will also be available.
With skilled and younger workers sought by area manufacturers, the timing is right for students to plan their education for a career in a field that offers a promising employment future.
WNC’s CTE academic programs include Automotive, Business, Computer Information, Construction Management, Criminal Justice, Education, Deaf Studies, Graphic Communications, Machine Tool, Manufacturing and Welding programs.
WNC’s open house is part of a month-long effort by Dream It Do It to bring more students into area manufacturing plants and enhance the image of industry. The event is funded by the federal Carl Perkins Grant and held in partnership with Dream It Do It, Carson City School District and National Manufacturing Day.
