Carson City chamber to retire old community center sign Oct. 14
Thanks to the efforts of the Carson City Chamber under the leadership of former Chairman of the Board Stan Jones, the Carson City Community Center will receive a new state-of-the-art LED sign that is expected to be up and running by Nevada Day.
The less-than-historic old sign will come down by crane at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14. Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, Chamber officials, Parks and Recreation officials and others will be in attendance.
The new signage was funded through a grant from the Redevelopment Authority as recommended by the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee. The remainder of the funding came from various other departments and the private sector with the Downtown Business Association and the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau providing a majority of the funding.
The new signage will allow for increased visibility of events held within the community center and throughout the community.
