Rotary Club Senior Spotlight: Carson High's Oswaldo Lepe pushes himself to navigate challenges

Perseverance, determination and heart: these are the words that come to mind when I think of our Senior in the Spotlight, Oswaldo Lepe. Oswaldo challenges himself every day to be the best he can be.
He is a loyal teammate on the CHS Varsity Soccer team this season, as well as training every day, for boxing, to prepare for an upcoming tournament in the Spring of 2025. The level of commitment he has shown has been truly amazing! All of this persistence with training will only help him meet his ultimate goal of becoming a professional boxer after graduation. Once Oswaldo walks across that stage, diploma in hand, he plans to work with his dad in construction, as he continues to focus on his dream of professional boxing.
As most students do, Oswaldo has struggled a time or two, navigating life as a teenager with balancing friendships, family obligations, athletics and school responsibilities. Even though some times were more difficult than others, he pushed himself to work hard, seek out support when needed and stay focused on his goals.
When things got rough at school, he turned his grades around and went from potentially not earning credit to passing all classes! These improvements helped him to earn his place with Varsity Soccer and helped prove to himself that he can do anything he sets his mind to do!
When asked who Oswaldo would like to thank for these successes and who helped to get him to where he is today, he said that he could not have made such great strides without the support of his dad and his boxing coach, Cisco. We are so proud of Oswaldo and all he has accomplished, and we can’t wait to see what great things he does with his future. Congratulations, Oswaldo Lepe, our Senior in the Spotlight!
