Memories of Bonanza history slideshow Tuesday at the Carson City Senior Center

Ride with us back to those golden days of Bonanza yesteryear, when Ben, Adam, Hoss and Little Joe stood for honesty, decency and owned about 1/3 of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Using seldom seen images and extensive research, local authors and historians David and Gayle Woodruff bring the Cartwrights and their socially edge cutting ways back to life in an informative, amusing and entertaining 55-minute slide show presentation, plus a surprise ending!

The program at the Carson City Senior Center is happening Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. It is free and open to everyone. Call David at 760 920-8061 for more information. The Senior Center is at 911 Beverly Dr. Carson City.

The Carson Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Gary Schwartz, kicks off its 40th season this October with a pair of "A Night on Broadway" concerts on Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024. I happened to have enjoyed a summer there myself some sixty-three summers ago. Yes, in that heavenly summer of ’61, Motel Six was the Sands, and they hired a 17-year-old lifeguard to work their pool for the summer, yours truly.

Students from Eagle Valley Middle School will be hosting a Halloween/Fall themed bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 am to 2 pm. This bake sale will be held at Benson’s Feed and Tack, at 2750 Highway 50 East, in Carson City.

We suspect Einstein, our cat of the week, is at least part Maine Coon. He is a big, beautiful, long-haired tabby with a sweet personality. He grew up with a dominant female cat that bullied him, leaving him a bit shy and introverted, and uncertain with new situations and people.
