A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday for alleged felony possession of a controlled substance and two counts misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, a sheriff's deputy report said.
Beatriz Marques Rodrigues was arrested at 6:59 p.m. in the 1100 block of Monument Peak Drive. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area after a reporting party (RP) said the woman was using drugs and that the incident was taped on a security camera.
Deputies responded and were shown footage that showed the woman sitting in her vehicle, smoking something, then exiting the vehicle and throwing something in the trash can before she returned to a residence.
A deputy went to the trash can and observed the container was empty except for a piece of tin foil, with burn residue, which is consistent with smoking controlled substances, the arrest report states.
The woman exited the residence and spoke with officers. She stated she does use heroin and had not smoked in a long time. A deputy asked how long is a "long time" and she said a couple days, the report states.
A deputy then retrieved the foil, which was warm to the touch, from the trash can. The woman was detained. She was asked if she had anything on her person prior to a search. She told the deputy a "tooter straw" and some heroin in her bra. A tooter straw is device commonly used for inhaling narcotics.
The woman admitted to having a "point" that she purchased for $10. After the items were recovered, the woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $4,500.
