Thrills on Wheels: Skate and Scooter Competition shreds at Mills Park
Riders of all ages showed off their skills at the Virginia Orcutt Skateboard Park in Mills Park Saturday to compete in the Skate and Scooter Competition organized by The Wheel House in Carson City.
Registered skaters and riders competed in the beginning, intermediate, or advanced categories of their particular events.
They were given three separate 40-second runs, showcasing a series of spins, turns, jumps and flips. On top of that, a free-style trick contest put the crowd on their feet in amazement.
Winners of each category were rewarded with tons of prizes provided by Woodward Tahoe. These prizes included: deck tape, wheels, trucks, ball bearings, hats, and t-shirts.
Matt Bartak, co-owner of event sponsor The Wheel House, gave his thoughts on the contest.
“It was really cool,” he said. “I was happy to see so many kids having fun and skating around the park.”
The Skate and Scooter Competition capped off quite an eventful day in Mills Park.
