Street Vibrations fall motorcycle rally returns, events in Carson City, Virginia City, Reno and Tahoe

Street Vibrations Motorcycle Festival returns to Northern Nevada beginning Thursday and extending through the weekend, with events lined up in Carson City, Virginia City, Reno and at Lake Tahoe.

The rally is a celebration of music, metal and motorcycles, offering poker runs, live entertainment, ride-in shows, stunt and bike shows and more to more than 50,000 riding enthusiasts, organizers say.

Major event venues are planned in Reno's Neon Line (by the Sands Regency), historic Virginia City, Reno Harley-Davidson and Carson City Motorsports and Battle Born Harley-Davidson in Carson City.

At Battle Born Harley-Davidson, the festivities begin at 5 p.m. Thursday with live music by One Way Street. Battle Born Harley-Davidson is at 2900 Research Way in Carson City.

The Nevada Highway Patrol asks the public to be aware of the onslaught of motorcycles on the road this weekend.

"We certainly want people to come to the area and have a good time. At the end of the day for us it is a matter of public safety," said NHP Trooper Charles Caster.

"We are reminding riders there are no lane-splits in the state of Nevada. Secondly, riders must wear helmets. Riders should ride responsibly. They should not ride under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and other controlled substances," he said.

For the motoring public NHP advises the following:

— Motorcycles are smaller and don't have the same safety cage as vehicles. Motorists should make sure to physically check their blind spots and not simply check their mirrors.

— As always, motorists should always use their blinkers when turning and making lane changes.

— NHP advises there will be some congestion on the roadways this weekend. As a result, NHP is asking everyone on the road to be patient and courtesy to their fellow motorists.

— NHP advises there will be active construction zones in the region. NHP asks motorists to respect the signs in these construction zones, especially lane shifts and speed reductions.

The Nevada Highway Patrol will have extra troopers on the road this weekend for safety and enforcement.
