Volunteers sought for fall clean-up at Carson City's Lone Mountain Cemetery
Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department is looking for groups, families, and individuals, to participate in a volunteer clean-up of the historic Lone Mountain Cemetery.
The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the cemetery, 1044 Beverly Dr, Carson City. Volunteers will focus on nuisance weed removal around markers. This event will require volunteers to stoop, kneel and lift piles of weeds and debris and utilize basic hand tools such as rakes and hula hoe weeders.
The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department will provide all the necessary tools and equipment for this event and asks volunteers to wear long pants, closed toed shoes and bring sunscreen and water bottles. Additional water will be provided by the Department. Please note dogs are not permitted at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
The volunteer clean-up day at the Lone Mountain Cemetery is part of Mayor Bagwell’s ‘Move with the Mayor’ initiative. ‘Move with the Mayor’ is a national campaign developed by the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention to encourage people to live active, healthy lifestyles.
