Kids & Horses Hosts 'Friendship Day' August 25th at P & K Ranch in Gardnerville
Kids & Horses is excited to welcome back a valley event for car enthusiasts and appreciators called Friendship Day. Friendship Day was a valley event that happened for years within the local car community. Unfortunately, when the original host moved, the group was left without a place to hold the gathering.
When discussing new fundraising/community connection ideas during a board meeting earlier this spring, a member suggested a car show and offered up their location, P & K Ranch, where Carson Valley Youth Day is held. Thankfully, we were connected with Al & Vicki Jewell of the local Inliners International-Northern NV Chapter, and Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA)-Carson-Tahoe Chapter. Al & Vicki generously jumped on board to help with facilitating the organization of the event, which we are so thankful for! We hope to bring back the start of something great within our community.
There will be no judging or prizes for cars, this is just a fun social gathering for car enthusiasts and appreciators to gather and talk shop, while also supporting a great cause. We will have food, music and a 50/50 raffle.
All proceeds from this event go towards supporting Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, a local nonprofit providing equine assisted services to children and adults with disabilities.

Kids & Horses was founded in 1999 by local businessman Sam Waldman and his wife Lorri to enhance the physical and mental well-being of children and adults diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other physical and intellectual disabilities. When Mr. Waldman passed away, Lorri along with a devoted board of directors, staff, volunteers and the families resolved to carry on.
25 years later, we have grown to provide a variety of programs for the community, for people of all ages. From: physical, occupational and speech therapy; to summer camps, Washoe tribal programs, local juveniles programs, Comprehensive Learning Skill classes, upcoming foster youth programs, and workshops for individuals with memory loss and their care partners; Kids & Horses continues to change lives with the healing power of equine assisted services.
We offer all of our services at low to no cost for participants, and rely on grants and donations to keep our facility operating. 100% of the proceeds raised from Friendship Day goes directly into our programs and care of our facility. Learn more about us at kidsandhorses.org.
Thank you for your support!
