Carson City's newest poke restaurant, 'The Poke Beach,' is now open for business
Carson City's newest poke restaurant, The Poke Beach, is now open for business in their location at 1442 E. William Street Unit 2 next to Starbucks.
The new restaurant has been under construction since April, but now they are officially open for business. It is the second restaurant of its kind in the Carson City area.
Poke (pronounced Poh-Keh) has been on the rise in recent years, an offshoot of sushi that originated in Hawaiian cuisine. The literal translation of Poke is “cut into chunks” which is precisely what Poke is: raw fish cut into chunks, served as either an appetizer or a main course in Hawaiian traditional cuisine.
While traditional Poke is simply seasoned fish, as with most cuisine it has been modified and adapted, and now most Poke Bars serve Poke Bowls, which include raw seasoned fish, rice, and additions such as avocado, onions, jalapeño, and a choice from several different sauces. Sort of a deconstructed sushi roll that you build yourself.
The Poké Beach is open Monday-Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. They are closed Sundays.
