Reid announces $20.5 million for Reno-Tahoe Airport, $834K for Minden-Tahoe
Reno-Tahoe Airport was awarded a $20.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for runway rehabilitation, while Minden-Tahoe Airport secured $834,098 in DOT funding to install perimeter fencing and rehabilitate runway lighting.
The announcement was made Thursday by Nevada Sen. Harry Reid. In August, the Carson City Airport was awarded more than $2.4 million in U.S. Department of Transportation grant money for rehabilitation of the airport's apron pavement.
Including this latest grant, Sen. Reid has secured more than $370 million in federal funds for Reno-Tahoe Airport to date.
“The Reno-Tahoe Airport is one of Nevada’s most important economic hubs, and these funds represent a significant investment in the state’s continued growth and success. Upgrading Nevada airports means expanding opportunity for Nevada’s economy,” Reid said. “Travel and tourism are the lifeblood of the Silver State, and I have made improving Nevada’s airports and roads one of my top priorities. I thank the Department of Transportation for working with me to strengthen Nevada’s infrastructure and economy.”
