Carson City Airport awarded $2.45 million in federal money for pavement work
The Carson City Airport has been awarded more than $2.4 million in U.S. Department of Transportation grant money for rehabilitation of the airport's apron pavement, according to an announcement made Friday by Nevada Sen. Harry Reid.
The grant is part of $11,907,786 awarded in Nevada to improve and modernize airports throughout the Silver State. Grants were also awarded to Fallon Municipal and Austin airports, Ely/Yelland Field Airport, Las Vegas’ McCarran International, Henderson Executive and Mesquite airports.
“Transportation is key to Nevada’s thriving tourism and business industries, and these funds will help us build on that success. I’ve spent my career working to upgrade and expand Nevada’s airports because they are truly a driver of our state’s economic engine,” Reid said. “This funding will prove especially vital to Nevada’s rural airports and help expand the critical infrastructure needed to meet the demands brought on by the state’s continued growth. I thank the Department of Transportation for working with me to invest in Nevada’s transportation future.”
