All Precautionary Evacuation Warnings in Douglas County Lifted

As of 12 p.m. on September 11, 2021, all Douglas County precautionary evacuation warnings have been lifted.

THE FOLLOWING AREAS ARE NO LONGER UNDER PRECAUTIONARY WARNINGS

1. Upper Kingsbury (South)

2. Upper Kingsbury (North)

3. Central Kingsbury

4. Lower Kingsbury

5. Lower Oliver, Kahle Drive region and roads

6. Lake Village

7. Areas South of Elks Point Road

For residents returning back to their homes, Douglas County has created a resource webpage for your potential needs:

While the precaution warnings have been lifted on the Nevada side, residents are still encouraged to always remain on the alert and be prepared for any possible future emergencies.

You never know what’s coming next in the hilarious comedy/whodunnit where nothing goes according to plan.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office received information on February 10th of an alleged Sex Trafficking operation out of California that had arrived in the local area on February 9th.

The original information alleged that approximately 9 persons were involved, including 3 males who were significantly armed. Due to the nature of the sex trafficking operation, the FBI’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Task Force was immediately engaged to assist.

Nevada State Museum Coin Press & Membership Programs Manager, Kelly Brant, will be the guest speaker at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting.

The public is invited to attend the luncheon which takes place Tuesday, February 13th at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

UPDATE 12:55 p.m.: Multiple suspects are in custody. Investigation is on-going. There is no immediate threat to the public. Shelter in place has been lifted. Press release to follow.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is serving a search warrant in the area of Sonoma Street and Carson Street.

The public is asked to avoid the area. If you are in the area of Carson Street and Sonoma Street, you are asked to shelter in place unless otherwise advised by law enforcement.

The southern access to Mills Park from Mills Lane, Oxoby Loop, and amenities including the pickleball courts, will be closed Monday, Feb. 12 to Friday, Feb. 16, for tree maintenance of the large Cottonwood trees.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Special Enforcement units took 30-year-old Aaron Friesen, (9/13/93) into custody at approximately 2:35 p.m. at a downtown North Curry Street residential Inn. Friesen had been identified as one of two suspects who attempted a forceful kidnapping on February 8, 2024 at the 1300 block of Fleetwood Avenue in Carson City.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is serving a warrant in the area  of North Curry Street and West Robinson St. The public is asked to avoid the area.

Carson High School hosted a Miracle Minute fundraiser this morning for all those wishing to donate to support the Rodriguez family.

The fundraiser was held during the school’s A3 class period where students, teachers and employees were able to make donations for 1 minute, pooling their money into an envelope in their classrooms.

It’s time again for Chinese Lunar New Year Celebrations in Carson City.

Each year, the Nevada State Museum and Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada partner together to bring Chinese culture to the capital city.

There will be a "Shining a light" candlelight memorial vigil Friday for Ella Márquez Conchas, 10, who died Jan. 23 in a pedestrian accident on US-50 in Mound House.

All are welcome to attend as a show of support for Ella Márquez Conchas and family. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. at on Friday at Dayton Elementary, 285 Old Dayton Road.

To honor Lexi Rodriguez, the family is inviting friends, students, teachers and community members to attend a Celebration of Life at Fitzhenry’s Funeral Home Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 at 10 a.m., 3945 Fairview Dr., in Carson City.
