Carson City work crew knocks down small brush fire on Highway 50 East
Carson City Fire Department was called Wednesday morning to a brush fire on Highway 50 East near Deer Run Road that was quickly extinguished.
Dispatch reports that around 10:35 a.m. a brush fire broke out on the side of the highway in the 6300 block of Highway 50 East. One westbound lane was closed due to the fire.
Arriving firefighters located a 10 foot by 10 foot fire that was extinguished by city work crews who were near the scene at the time of the call, according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief.
The fire was in the same general area of a fire that happened August 28, in which a construction crew had sparked a fire and then quickly doused it by the time firefighters arrived.
The cause of Wednesday's fire is under investigation. The battalion chief on scene noted that a live power line was hanging low to the ground and were investigating.
