Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Pair booked on felony auto theft charges

Two were booked into jail Thursday on felony charges after officers responded to a vehicle reported stolen from a motel in the 2700 block of South Carson Street, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Arrested were Timothy Joseph Cave, 25, and Jennifer Lee Robertson, 37. Both are from Carson City.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to a civil standby in which the owner of a Ford Mustang wanted to take possession of his vehicle from his ex-wife. The officer verified the ownership of the vehicle and the VIN number. It was determined to be the victim’s car.

An officer made contact with the woman, who said she didn’t have the keys to the vehicle but that her mother was delivering them. The officer waited 40 minutes. The mother didn’t show and the officer left the scene to attend to pending calls. The vehicle owner was waiting for the car to be towed.

At 9:16 a.m. dispatch alerted the car had been stolen, seen leaving the motel. Officers went to the motel and learned Robertson’s boyfriend, Cave, stole the car before the tow truck arrived, the arrest report states.

Deputies on patrol spotted the vehicle, which would not pull over. The vehicle picked up speed, going more than 85 mph in a 35 mph zone. Deputies called off the pursuit for safety reasons.

Deputies then spoke with the victim who said while he was waiting, Cave got into the car and sped away. The victim tried to stop him, he said, but Cave yelled out that the victim was going to die and made a gesture as if he was going to use a gun. After seeing the car speed away, the victim found his ex-wife loading property into a GMC Yukon and leave. Officers found the pair in the 2400 block of Fieldcrest Drive. Both were placed into custody.

Cave was also found to be in possession of marijuana and a pipe and Robertson was in possession of a pair of brass knuckles and a pack of Methylprednisolone without a prescription. Cave was booked on felony charges of grand larceny of a vehicle, eluding, reckless driving and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Bail: $66,874. Robertson was arrested on felony counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, and gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon. Bail: $42,500.

In other arrests: A 20-year-old Gardnerville man was booked into jail Wednesday on felony drug and weapon charges after officers found methamphetamine and a handgun, Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Austin Mordhorst was arrested at 9:11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Brown Street. He was charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, a misdemeanor warrant charge, possession of a concealed weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to the arrest report, officers made a vehicle stop in the 1600 block of Brown Street. The driver was a 17-year-old female and Mordhorst was the passenger. A deputy asked Mordhorst for his identification. The man said he did not have one and provided a false name and birth date.

He was sweating profusely, visibly shaking, and had dried white foam on the corners of his mouth, the arrest report states. He was asked to exit the vehicle but did not as instructed. He was asked five times by a deputy to exit the vehicle. He eventually did so and then appeared as if he were going to run, the arrest report states.

Before a pat down search Mordhorst was asked if had any needles, knives, guns or drugs on him. The man replied “no.” Officers found a Nevada ID card in his back pocket with his real name on it. It was checked through dispatch and it was learned he had a confirmed warrant. He was placed under arrest.

Also found inside his pockets was a small zip pouch with meth and several baggies inside, and a loaded High Point 9mm handgun on the inside pant leg. Bail: $48,774.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman, Lindsay Hammers, was arrested Wednesday, 8:56 p.m. in the area of Edmonds and Gordon streets on a felony warrant, possession of a controlled substance, issued Aug. 26, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. According to the arrest report, a deputy observed Hammers walking north on Edmonds and knew she had an active warrant issued for her arrest. The officer made contact with the woman and dispatch confirmed the warrant with a $2,500 bondable bail. She was taken into custody.

— A 31-year-old Carson City woman, Christina Lynn Burdick, was arrested Wednesday, 5:51 p.m. in the 4000 block of Mina Way on two counts felony charges of grand larceny, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a prescription drug without a prescription. According to the arrest report, officers were called to investigate two car carrying trailers stolen from a residence on East Hampton Drive.

Officers found the trailers at a Mina Way address when they went to look for the person suspected of taking them. Officers learned Burdick asked a friend to retrieve the trailers. She had lived at the home. The owners of the trailers wanted the person who took them arrested.

The friend said he did what Burdick asked, thinking the trailers were hers. Because Burdick knew the location of the trailers and their ownership and used a third party to take them without permission, she was taken into custody. At jail officers searched the woman and found a oxycodone pill that was not prescribed to Burdick. Bail: $55,000.

— A 52-year-old Dayton man, Gordon Allen Boswell, was arrested Wednesday, 1:35 p.m. in the 7900 block of Highway 50 East, on a felony warrant, DUI with prior felony DUI convention. Bail: $20,000.
