Memorial Held for those lost ten years ago in the Carson City IHOP Shooting
The shooting occurred ten years ago Monday, on Sept. 6, 2011, and has been remembered each year by the community.
Lily Hansen, daughter of Nevada Army Guard deceased Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney (seen in second photo), examines the memorial for the three slain Nevada Guard Soldiers who were victims of the Sept. 6, 2011, IHOP Shooting incident in Carson City.
The Joint Force Headquarters unit hosted a memorial remembrance ceremony today in the Capital City to mark the decade since the tragedy in 2011.
Along with McElhiney, the Nevada Guard victims included Lt. Col. Heath Kelly and Master Sgt. Christian Riege.
Florence Donovan-Gunderson of South Lake Tahoe was also a victim in the random shooting.
The Nevada Army Guard lost three Soldiers that date; the losses equaled the entire number of Nevada Army Guard Soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan in the Global War on Terror.
