Carson City Sheriff's Office requests help in locating runaway teen

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance with locating a runaway juvenile. On August 30th, 2021 Emma Watson Cervantes ran away from home in Carson City.

Emma has run away in the past and was found in Silver Springs Nevada.

Emma is 13 years-old 5'03" / 110 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Emma was last seen wearing black leggings, dark sweater, and a black tank top. Photo attached.

Heavy snow fell overnight in the Carson City area, resulting in more chain and traction tire requirements on local roads.

Travel restrictions are currently in place Sunday morning for Interstate 580 from about the Washoe County line through Washoe Valley to mile post 15.0 in Washoe County.

Chains or snow tires also required for Old U.S. Highway 395 Alternate from the Bowers Mansion interchange to the SR 431/341 junction in South Reno, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) said.

On Saturday night, Route 88 was closed both east and west of Kirkwood. As a result, people had few places to go.

About 100 cars were temporarily stuck on Route 88, but many of them made their way to Kirkwood Resort.

Carson City emergency crews are on scene of a three-vehicle collision that occurred Saturday night just before 7 p.m. on South Carson Street at the Rhodes Street intersection.

According to Carson City Dispatch, one vehicle was pushed into oncoming traffic by another vehicle.

Both north and southbound lanes of Carson Street are affected. Traffic control measures are in place.

At least two ambulances have been called to the scene to tend to injuries. The extent of those injuries is not yet known.

Motorists in the area can expect delays and should seek alternate routes of travel.

The sixth-ranked Nevada men’s basketball team poured on the points and avenged its only loss this season with a 91-62 drubbing of New Mexico on Saturday at Lawlor Events Center. The Pack exploited the Lobos’ defensive gameplan from the inside-out and turned the game into a one-sided affair.

Because safety is our highest concern, we are canceling the Winterfest Dance scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. at Carson High School due to the snow and unsafe road conditions. The dance may be rescheduled at a later date.

Valentine's Day at the Plaza Hotel Events Center in Carson City was celebrated a few days early on Saturday with the 20th annual Feast of Chocolate, a fundraising benefit for the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Capital Branch.

Multiple law enforcement agencies from Carson City and Douglas County were on scene Friday afternoon near the equestrian area of Fuji Park in South Carson City, according to Carson City Dispatch, where a larceny suspect who fled the Wal-Mart on Topsy Lane has been tasered.

A taser was used to detain the suspect, dispatch reports, and Carson City firefighter-paramedics were called to the scene to check on the suspect.

A Carson City drywall laborer was arrested Thursday night at 7:40 p.m. in the area of Fifth and Stewart streets on two felony counts of uttering a forged instrument and a misdemeanor charge of ex-felon failing to register, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

On Friday, Feb. 8, 19-year-old Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman appeared in Carson City Justice Court before Judge Tom Armstrong for his arraignment hearing.

Prosecution prepared a stipulation to transfer Martinez-Guzman to Washoe County to face the more pressing charges of murder. Martinez-Guzman and his attorney agreed.

Martinez-Guzman waived the right to a preliminary hearing within 15 days in order to be transferred to Washoe County.

A pre-trial conference date in Carson City has been set for July 10 for a status check. Martinez-Guzman will not be required to be in attendance for it.

Another round of storms will impact the region this weekend. While snow accumulations aren't expected to rival those from last weekend, disruptions to travel could still be significant.

Beginning Friday afternoon, the first in a series of three storms could bring a 30-60 percent chance of snow to the greater Carson City area after 4 p.m. and again after 10 p.m. However, this system is forecast to be weak and should not leave more than an inch on the valley floors.
