Road closures, travel restrictions on area roads Sunday morning
Heavy snow fell overnight in the Carson City area, resulting in more chain and traction tire requirements on local roads.
Travel restrictions are currently in place Sunday morning for Interstate 580 from about the Washoe County line through Washoe Valley to mile post 15.0 in Washoe County.
Chains or snow tires also required for Old U.S. Highway 395 Alternate from the Bowers Mansion interchange to the SR 431/341 junction in South Reno, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) said.
Chains or snow tires are required on these other area highways:
— U.S. Highway 395 from the state and Douglas County line to mile post 31.4 in Douglas County.
— U.S. Highway 50 from the U.S. Highway 395 junction to Deer Run Road in Carson City.
— U.S. Highway 50 from mile post 14.0 in Carson City to mile post 21.3 in Churchill County.
— U.S. Highway 50 from the Douglas County line at Stateline to mile post 7.6 in Carson City.
— State Route 206 From Foothill Road-Genoa Lane to U.S. Highway 395 in the Carson Valley.
— State Route 207 from the U.S. Highway 50 junction at Stateline to Foothill Road in the Carson Valley.
— State Route 341 from the Lyon County line to mile post 10.8 in Storey County, as well as the Washoe County line at the bottom of Geiger Grade to mile post 6.3 in Storey County.
— State Route 342 from the Lyon County line to mile post 3.0 in Storey County.
— State Route 28 from the U.S. Highway 50 junction in Douglas County to Crystal Bay.
— State Route 431 from the SR 28 junction to Fairview Blvd in Washoe County.
The following highways are closed to due severe Winter road conditions:
— Interstate 80 from about mile post 33 in Placer County, CA, to the Washoe County and state line in Nevada.
— U.S. Highway 50 is closed for nearly 50 miles from about mile post 21 in El Dorado County, CA, to mile post 70 in El Dorado County.
