Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Deputies bust four on felony drug offenses
Four men were arrested Friday night at 8:15 p.m. in the area of Lone Mountain Drive and East Winnie Lane on a host of felony and misdemeanor drug offenses during the same bust, Carson City Sheriff's deputies said.
Christopher Wilson, 24, of Carson City was arrested for felony PCS of methamphetamine with intent to sell, meth trafficking, gross misdemeanor concealing evidence and an outstanding probation violation bench warrant, the report said.
Johnny Carrillo-Escobar, 22, of Dayton was arrested for felony PCS meth with intent to sell and trafficking, the report said.
Kevin Cox, 24, of Carson City was arrested for felony PCS meth with intent to sell, the report said.
And Troy Strand, 56, was arrested for felony PCS prescription medication, gross misdemeanor possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, and a pair of misdemeanor Alternative Sentencing probation violations, the report said.
According to the arrest reports, a Sheriff's deputy had made a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle that had earlier been reported in a parking lot along East Long Street with a strange, drug-like odor reportedly emanating from it.
Once located, the vehicle was stopped by law enforcement for expired registration, and a deputy made contact with the driver, Carrillo-Escobar, and three passengers: Wilson, Cox and Strand.
As Wilson exited the vehicle, a deputy observed him fumbling with a plastic baggie containing a white substance, the report said.
Wilson tensed up his hands to prevent the deputy from taking the baggie from him. However, the deputy was able to retrieve the baggie, which contained a powdery white substance resembling meth and later field tested presumptive positive for that drug, the report said.
A K-9 unit was also on scene to perform an exterior sniff of the vehicle, the report said, and a positive alert was made.
A subsequent search of the vehicle and the four suspects recovered more white powdery substance later field tested presumptive positive for meth, the report said, as well as paraphernalia, scale, torch, multiple plastic baggies, scissors, paper ruler, prescription bottles with pills, glass pipes, hypodermic needles, and spoon with residue, among several other drug-related items commonly used to package and sell meth.
Total weight of the recovered meth was eight grams, the report said.
Wilson was also later found to have a confirmed felony parole and probation hold, as well as an active misdemeanor bench warrant issued out of the Carson City Justice Court for violating the terms of his probation.
The four men were handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail, where they were booked without incident.
Bail for Wilson and Carrillo-Escobar stands at $20,000 each. Bail for Cox stands at $5,000. And bail for Strand stands at $3,000.
In other arrests:
— A 27 year-old Carson City man was arrested on felony and misdemeanor bench warrants, as well as for gross misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance (PCS) Friday morning at 9:38 a.m. in the 2000 block of West College Parkway, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.
Joseph Allen Gonzales was taken into custody for outstanding arrest warrants issued out of the Carson City Justice Court pertaining to felony obtaining money under false pretenses, as well as for misdemeanor violation of bail conditions, the arrest report said.
According to the report, law enforcement responded to the area on an unwanted subject call.
Gonzales was recognized by the Sheriff's deputy from prior contacts, and a records check through dispatch confirmed the two active bench warrants, the report said.
He was handcuffed at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking.
Upon intake processing, a deputy searched Gonzales' wallet and found four blue pills, which were determined to be Class 4 controlled substances. Bail: $5,000.
