Free GED Boot Camps at Douglas, Carson City WNC campuses
Registration begins soon for GED Boot Camps scheduled for Western Nevada College’s Carson City and Douglas campuses. The free GED Boot Camps provide intensive instruction and preparation for students interested in passing a GED or high school equivalency exam.
“The GED boot camp covers all sections of the official GED exam: science, social studies, reading, writing and math,” said Angela Andrade-Holt, WNC Adult Literacy and Language program coordinator. “Students also receive test-taking skills and a week of review prior to the administration of the official exam.”
Carson City Boot Camp
Interested students will need to choose between registration sessions offered at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Thursday, Sept. 5 in the Adult Literacy & Language office in Bristlecone Building Room 340.
The boot camp launches Sept. 16 and will be held from 9 to 12:30 p.m. and 6 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday until Oct. 24.
Douglas Boot Camp
Participants must attend one of two registration sessions in order to enroll. Registration will be offered at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 or at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 in a room to be determined on campus.
Classes begin Monday, Sept. 30 and will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday until Nov. 14.
Both boot camps are open to people age 18 and older; 16- and 17-year-olds are eligible if they meet Nevada state requirements for high school withdrawal. The official GED exam is administered the week after classes culminate.
