Carson City Fire Department launches Citizens Academy in September
The Carson City Fire Department will host an eight-week free Citizens Fire Academy, Sept. 10 through Oct. 29. The program is designed to give an overview of the fire department, emergency operations, public safety dispatch and other emergency services.
The academy is ideal for those wanting to know how emergency calls are dispatched; why an engine will respond with an ambulance on medical emergencies and how to make homes or businesses safe.
Classes are 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The academy is limited to 25 students to ensure quality training and applicants must be 18 years of age or older. If you are interested in participating in this program, you'll need to complete and return the program application and waiver forms by Friday, Sept. 6, 2013. Go here for the application.
