Around 2,000 Carson City students will be distance learning this year due to COVID-19
According to Carson City Public Information Officer Dan Davis, 25 percent of Carson City families have opted to keep their children home for 100 percent distance learning.
Last year, there were close to 7,800 students enrolled in the Carson City School District ranging from pre-K to high school, which amounts to approximately 1,950 students who will be staying home to learn, at least for the first portion of the school year.
Carson City teachers returned to schools yesterday, Aug. 12, to prepare for the student’s return on Monday, Aug. 24.
The first in-person students will return Tuesday, Aug. 25. Students will be separated into two groups. Both groups will be home on Mondays for distance learning. The first group will attend school in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while the second group will attend school in person on Wednesdays and Fridays.
