Two arrested for meth possession after traffic stop

Note to people intent on carrying methamphetamine: Speeding in a Corvette through downtown Carson City probably isn't a good idea.
Two people found that out early this morning when a Carson City Sheriff's deputy stopped them near the intersection of Carson and Washington streets for going 41 mph in a 25 mph zone.
According to the arrest report, the driver, Steve Duane Turney, 49, of Stockton, Calif., and passenger Suzanne Elisabeth White, 42, of South Lake Tahoe, were acting very nervous during the traffic stop. Dispatch advised that Turney's license had been suspended. The deputy then asked if he could use his police dog to search the car. The K9 identified something on the passenger side of the car, which turned out to be a bag with 3 grams of a crystal substance that tested positive for meth.
Neither person claimed the bag as theirs, but said no one else had been inside the car. Turney was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and basic speed violation. His bail was set at $3,739. White was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine. Her bail was set at $2,500.
Update: Suzanne Elisabeth White was later found not guilty.

Carson City deputies also arrested:
—Jesse James Owen, 29, of Reno, turned himself in at the Carson City Jail Wednesday night on a warrant for felony possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $15,000.
—A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday evening in the 1700 block of North Fall Street for gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles). His bail was set at $2,500.
