Carson City sheriff’s deputies make weekend drug, DUI and warrant arrests
A 21-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Saturday for a felony warrant alleging grand larceny, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Chance Banta was transported from Washoe County Jail to Carson City Jail on Saturday for the warrant, a class C felony alleging grand larceny of less than $2,500. The warrant was issued June 6, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $10,000.
In other arrests:
— A 27-year-old transient was arrested Friday night in the 1800 block North Edmonds Drive for felony suspicion of possession of a methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tonya Renee Young was booked into custody after deputies with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team were called to a casino regarding suspicious circumstances.
A 32-year-old man with the woman was also arrested for two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued July 27, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court.
The woman was asked if she had any drugs or paraphernalia on her person. She said no.
Deputies found a methamphetamine pipe in a pocket. A canine sniff of a backpack alerted positive for drugs. The backpack was searched and inside deputies found meth and a “tooter” straw, commonly used for inhaling meth. Bail for Young, $3,637. Bail for 32-year-old man with the two warrants: $6,000.
— A 42-year-old Carson City man, Jeremy Dyer Spears, was arrested Friday, Aug. 4, in the area of I-580 and Arrowhead Drive for a felony warrant issued May 2016 out of East Fork Township Court as well as a misdemeanor warrant also issued in May 2016 from the same court. Bail: $4,000.
— A 26-year-old Carson City man, Jacob Madden, was arrested Saturday, 2:24 p.m in the 900 block of East Fifth Street for felony suspicion, possession of a controlled substance, violation of pre-sentence conditions and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, Carson City Alternative Sentencing asked sheriff’s deputies to assist them with a home visit. Alternative Sentencing officers attempted to conduct urine analysis tests with the man.
Deputies searched the residence and located two small bags containing methamphetamine, a loaded hypodermic device containing methamphetamine and a glass meth pipe, the report states. The man was arrested. He was held without bail on the Department of Alternative Sentencing charge of pre-sentencing violation conditions. Bail for the other charges, $3,637.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, Aug. 5 in the 2400 block of Fairview Drive for misdemeanor violation of a protection order. According to the arrest report, the man had attempted to call his wife several times by telephone while he had a court order not to contact her. Bail: $3,000.
— A 38-year-old Sparks man was arrested Saturday, 7 a.m. in the area of Roop Street and Beverly Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, a reporting party advised to sheriff’s dispatch of a driver slumped over the wheel of a vehicle. A deputy arrived on scene and observed the vehicle running, the headlights on and the driver seated in the driver’s seat.
The driver had red, bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. The man agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .249 and was taken into custody. Bail: $1,137.
— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, Aug. 5, in the area of 7th and Plaza streets for misdemeanor warrants issued July 21, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $6,000.
— A 39-year-old Dayton man was booked into Saturday, Aug. 5, 2:45 p.m. for a misdemeanor probation violation warrant issued January 30, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 5:46 p.m. in the 2200 block of East William Street for a misdemeanor probation violation warrant issued July 5, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 35-year-old transient was booked into jail Saturday, 11:42 p.m. for two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued Feb. 2, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. According to the arrest report, the woman turned herself in on the warrants. Bail: $10,000.
— A 53-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Sunday, 8:12 a.m. for two misdemeanor failure to appear on traffic citations issued July 6, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,480.
— A 79-year-old transient was booked into jail Sunday, 2:10 p.m. for two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued in February 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,111.
