Lyon County Sheriff: Threat unfounded after Silver Springs school lockdown, sweep
A report of a student with a firearm Wednesday at Silver Stage Middle School in Silver Springs resulted in a lockdown of the school and two others. However, an investigation into the matter determined there wasn't a gun and that the threat to the school was false, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
At around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to the Silver Stage Middle School for a reported student with a gun. All three schools, in Silver Springs, went into a precautionary lockdown. The student in question was cooperative and no gun was found, according to LCSO in a news release.
A sweep of the school was conducted to ensure the safety of the students and staff. There was not a threat to the school staff, students, or public at this time. It was later determined by the investigating deputies that the threat to the school was false, the release states.
