Dayton couple arrested for drug charges after man allegedly leaves hospital with IV still in arm
A 46-year-old Dayton woman and a 46-year-old Dayton man were arrested in the area of Highway 50 E. and Flint Drive on drug charges after the man allegedly left the hospital with an IV still in his arm.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to search for Garrison Maddox after it was reported he’d left the hospital with an IV still in his arm. Dispatch also advised Maddox had a warrant for his arrest.
While searching the area, deputies noticed a vehicle in a nearby fast food parking lot but “did not think anything of it at the time.”
They continued to search the area for vehicles that were associated with Maddox, with no success.
While on the east side of town, deputies saw the same vehicle turn off of Arrowhead and travel eastbound towards Lyon County, and deputies saw that the driver of the vehicle appeared to be Maddox.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop based on the fact that the vehicle did not have an operating license plate light and instructed Maddox to exit the vehicle.
There was a female passenger in the car, later identified as Keaupuni Warren.
Deputies noted that Maddox still had the IV in his arm as they detained him.
A K-9 was dispatched who conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle, resulting in a positive alert.
Inside the vehicle, deputies located a pink wallet that Warren said was not hers. She said she’d allowed a friend to use the vehicle, and inside the wallet there were cards that did not belong to Warren, along with $1,020 in cash and two small bags that contained a “testable amount” of methamphetamine.
Deputies asked Warren why her friend would leave drugs and that much money in her car, and Warren did not have an answer, according to the report.
Since the items were located on Maddox’s side of the car within reach, he was charged with the possession of the narcotics, and deputies seized the money.
As deputies continued to search the vehicle, they located Warren’s purse which contained a methamphetamine pipe loaded with a methamphetamine rock hidden inside a fast food drink cup.
Warren said the pipe belonged to her, then asked for a lawyer.
Both Maddox and Warren were taken into custody without issue.
Maddox was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, sales of a controlled substance, and probation violation.
No bail.
Warren was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and destroying or concealing evidence.
Bail: $6,137
