Carson City deputies make arrests for vehicle burglary, domestic battery
A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday for felony suspicion of vehicle burglary and attempted vehicle burglary, a sheriff’s deputy said.
James Wilkins was arrested at 3 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was called to the area for a burglary in progress. Dispatch was advised a man broke into a green truck that is owned by a loan company. Dispatch was further advised the man also made an attempt to break into another vehicle in the same parking lot and has received a second call.
A deputy arrived on scene and saw the suspect leaning against a green Chevy pickup. The deputy approached the man, identified as Wilkins, who told the officer he was trying to get a “dime sack,” the arrest report states.
The deputy handcuffed the suspect and placed him in the back of a patrol car and advised him of his Miranda rights. Officers on scene spoke with two witnesses who stated the man was breaking into the vehicles. Bail: $40,000.
In other arrests:
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 6:05 p.m. in the 100 block of West Winnie Lane for misdemeanor suspicion of driving without a valid license. Bail: $192.
— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 4:15 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor warrant issued June 24, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Friday, 4:50 a.m. in the area of 7th and Carson Street for two misdemeanor failure to appear traffic warrants, issued April 19, and May 23, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,910.
— A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 11:01 a.m. in the 500 block of South Roop Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI drugs.
According to the arrest report, two witnesses provided statements advising they had observed the vehicle unable to maintain a lane of traffic from the area of Spooner Junction to Topsy Lane.
Deputies spoke with the man who admitted to taking medications. He said he had not been drinking and provided a preliminary breath test of .0.
He submitted to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He had no prior DUI convictions. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI drugs and consented to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $1,137.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 2:13 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Edmonds for suspicion of domestic battery and a misdemeanor failure to appear in court warrant.
According to the arrest report, the victim told deputies she and the man were arguing and the man slapped her, open palm, twice on her right cheek causing it to bleed. She had a small cut on the inside of her cheek.
The suspect was interviewed and told deputies the two were arguing, the victim spit on him and he pushed her and then slapped her in an attempt to defend himself. He was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery and the failure to appear warrant. Bail: $3,992.
— A 50-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday in the 4300 block of Silver Sage Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area regarding a woman who was heard yelling for help in the area. Deputies arrived and were let in by a 4-year-old playing outside.
Deputies met with the suspect who had blood coming from her lip and said she had fallen down. She advised her boyfriend was in a back room sleeping. A deputy woke up the man and asked him what happened. He told deputies he got into an argument with his girlfriend over money, and that she grabbed his right arm and scratched him with her nails, the report states.
He said he slapped the woman in the face because she scratched him. He showed the officer his right arm, which had large scratch marks that were bleeding, according to the report.
The deputy met again with the suspect who at first said she slipped on the new flooring. The officer told the woman the man admitted to slapping her in the face. She then told the deputy that she hit the man first. She was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
