Churchill County Sheriff’s deputy received commendation after saving juvenile’s life
A Churchill County Sheriff’s deputy received a letter of commendation after his actions ultimately saved a juvenile’s life.
The Sheriff’s Office posted the following on social media: On June 25, 2024, Deputy Michael Hardin responded to the area of Interstate 80, east of Jessup for a male subject having a medical emergency. Upon arrival, Deputy Hardin located the juvenile patient, who was found to have a laceration on his right arm.
The injury had been wrapped with a shirt to control the bleeding prior to law enforcements arrival.
Deputy Hardin assessed the injury and noticed a large amount of blood still emanating from the wound and quickly applied a tourniquet to the subject's right arm.
Careflight was ultimately requested to the location and the patient was flown to Reno for further medical treatment.
A few days later, the Sheriff's Office Administration was approached by medical personnel who was on the scene with Deputy Hardin during the medical incident.
The Administration was informed that the swift actions of Deputy Hardin in placing the tourniquet on the patient, saved the juvenile's life, as the injury was life-threatening. Due to Deputy Hardin's actions on scene that day, Deputy Hardin was given a letter of commendation by Sheriff Richard Hickox.
Thank you Deputy Michael Hardin for a job well done, for representing yourself, this agency, and this profession in an outstanding manner.
