Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through August 3
Here is the Carson City area road report for July 29 through Aug. 3, 2014. The Nevada sesquicentennial Fair will be held at Fuji Park July 30 through August 3. Additional traffic may be expected in the area. Off-site parking will be at the Casino Fandango with free bus rides to and from the fair.
The Nevada Department of Transportation will be continuing road work on Highway 50 from Deer Run Road in Carson City to just east of Highway 341 in Mound House. There will be single lane closures on weeknights from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
There will be utility work primarily in the street shoulder on weekdays between 7 a.m. and p.m. at the following locations. Minimal delays are possible.
— Lakeview Road from Levi Gulch Road to Combs Canyon Road
— Sandy Circle
— Bobcat Circle
— Silver Sage Drive immediately south of Tuscarora way
— West of Combs Canyon Road.
NDOT will temporarily suspend or alter work during Hot August Nights and the Reno-Tahoe Open events. No construction-related lane closures will take place between the evening of Friday, July 25 and the morning of Monday, Aug. 4 on NDOT’s Mt. Rose Highway project.
On State Route 207 over Kingsbury Grade into Stateline and south shore Lake Tahoe, there will be two-way traffic without turn lanes in the commercial area of lower Kingsbury on the Lake Tahoe side but no closures are planned.
Elsewhere around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra from July 27 to Aug. 1 are the following Caltrans projects: State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to "Y" junction with State Route 28 in Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curb and gutter, resurface and realign the road, add new left-turn pockets and widen shoulders on a 9-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2016.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from Wilson Avenue in Tahoma to Olympic Drive in Tahoe City: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations around the clock from 10 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Friday for paving, roadway excavation and utility work.
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $4 million project from the "Y" junction of State Routes 28/89 in Tahoe City to Alpine Meadows Road making drainage and slope corrections on about a 4-mile stretch of Highway 89. Completion is expected this fall.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from the "Y" intersection to Alpine Meadows Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from midnight to 8 a.m. Monday and 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project is adding new drainage features, curb and gutter, and resurfacing a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from 1 Ring Road to Meeks Creek: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for grinding and paving work. Also, motorists can expect one-way traffic control from Meeks Creek to Valley View Drive from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday and from Mountain Drive to Rubicon Drive from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $12.1 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the "Y" intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curb and gutter, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected this fall.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $15.3 million water-quality project from Johnson Pass Road to Incline Road in Meyers to install new drainage systems, widen shoulders and add bike lanes in one section, and restore a section of the exiting bike path.
From July 29-30, U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Johnson Pass Road to Sawmill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. to noon Wednesday for drainage work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $7.67 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road in Pollock Pines. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curb and gutter and curb ramps. Completion is expected by spring 2015.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Sly Park Road: Motorists can expect Sly Park Road to be closed to through traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday through Friday for falsework removal.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $18.5 million project by El Dorado County to reconstruct the U.S. Highway 50 ramps to El Dorado Hills Boulevard and Latrobe Road in El Dorado Hills. Completion is expected this fall.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the Sacramento County line to Bass Lake Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect a full highway closure from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday for rock blasting. A detour will be in place. Also, westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for paving.
State Route 49 (Placer County) at the American River Bridge in the Auburn Ravine: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday for a bridge inspection.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Pedro Hill Road to Meadow View Acres Road in Pilot Hill: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for miscellaneous work.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Grand Fir Circle to the junction with State Route 193: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for pavement work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Smith Flat Road to Snow Road: Eastbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for bridge work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from the Alpine County line to the junction with U.S. Highway 50 in Meyers: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for paving.
