Carson City sheriff’s log: Woman jailed on multiple felony warrants
A 29-year-old Carson City woman with felony warrants issued for her arrest turned herself into jail officials Wednesday, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Sarah Josephine Dent was arrested on three felony and misdemeanor warrants. The confirmed warrants were out of Carson City Justice Court for violation of bail conditions, a probation warrant for failure to appear for burglary out of Washoe County and a probation violation warrant, also out of Carson City. Three of the warrants were without bail in lieu of hearings. The misdemeanor warrant carried a $3,000 cash bail.
In other arrests: A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 4:22 a.m. in the area of Second and Pratt streets on misdemeanor charges of DUI, expired registration, not having a vehicle register in Nevada, speeding, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and having no proof of vehicle insurance.
According to the arrest report, a deputy followed the suspect’s vehicle going approximately 40 mph east on Second Street from Stewart Street. The officer stopped the vehicle. In plain view in the center console was the grip of a handgun with an extended magazine. While talking with the driver, the officer smelled a moderate odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. His speech was slurred and his eyes were red and watery.
The man was asked to get out of the vehicle where he was detained. The fully loaded weapon was made safe and the subject was taken out of handcuffs where he submitted to field sobriety tests. He was unable to do them as instructed. A preliminary breath test showed the man to be well over a .08.
He was arrested for DUI. A registration check of the vehicle showed it had expired March 31, 2015 and the man had been a resident of Nevada for more than four months. A computer check showed he had an Arizona identification that was suspended but his Nevada license was valid. He was taken to jail where he submitted to an evidentiary blood test. Bail: $4,332.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 11:49 p.m. in the area of Agate and Diamond streets on suspicion of DUI, not following a traffic device and having an open container of alcohol. According to the arrest report, the man was stopped after failing to stop for the red traffic signal at Hot Springs Road. The officer caught up with the vehicle at College Parkway and made contact with the driver.
The man had a moderate odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech and his eyes were red and watery. The man told the officer he was drunk and had an open container in the vehicle that he was drinking as he drove prior to being stopped. He submitted to a preliminary breath test which showed him to be over .08. He was arrested and taken to jail where he submitted to breath tests. The results were .121 and .118. Bail: $1,416.
— A 43-year-old Woodland, Calif., man was booked Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Apri 4, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $20,000.
— A 54-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 8:02 a.m. in the 500 block of North Stewart Street on a misdemeanor warrant issued July 17, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 56-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 9:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of North Carson Street on misdemeanor charges of petit larceny, violation of bail conditions and being arrested while on probation. Bail: $3,352.
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 12:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of South Carson Street on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to a motel regarding a man who was said to be out of control and having mental issues.
Officers met with the man’s parents who stated their son had being yelling profanities while they attempted to rent him a room at the motel. The family was in the process of taking the man to rehab due to his addiction to prescription medication and said he had flipped out, became violent and started kicking motel property and yelling loudly in the parking lot, waking up residents. The family requested the man be taken into custody for disorderly conduct.
Deputies spoke with the man who stated he was trying to express his feelings and the family did not care. He said he wants to go to rehab and admitted he flipped out and kicked a fence and yelled at his family. The man was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself, according to the arrest report. The man stated that if he was left alone he would hurt himself or someone else. He was taken into custody. Bail: $242.
