Skaters sizzle during Wheel House Fourth Anniversary Bash at Mills Park in Carson City
The sweltering humidity didn’t keep away skaters and bikers of all ages from celebrating the fourth anniversary of Carson City’s very own Wheel House on Saturday afternoon.
Co-owners Matthew Bartak and Teak Dopf put on the skating competition in Mills Park to keep kids engaged in wheeling sports as well as promoting movement in the community.
Local competitors brought their skateboards, bikes and scooters to challenge kids from Reno and Lake Tahoe.
“We do this to give them something to be active and be outside and get fresh air and sunlight,” Bartak said. “The kids seem to like it, and we hear a lot of good reports from the parents.”
The event is going today until 5 p.m. Saturday and includes live music, raffle, skate demos, giveaways and more.
