Carson City arrests: Bicyclists stopped at night for not having proper lights found with drugs
A 33-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanor offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.
Ryan Duncan was taken into custody at 12:10 a.m. He was also booked for being an ex-felon failing to register, possession of drug paraphernalia and not having a front light required on a bicycle.
According to the report, a deputy observed the bicycle rider cross westbound on South Carson Street near 8th. The bicycle did not have a front light or rear light. Due to the fact that it was nighttime, the bicyclist was riding his bicycle without lights, which prompted a traffic enforcement stop.
The deputy spoke with the man, who appeared extremely nervous and was looking around as if he was preparing to run, the report states. The man consented to a pat down search. Located on the man was a methamphetamine glass pipe in his left pant pocket. The man was taken into custody for possession of paraphernalia.
Upon further inspection of the glass pipe, the deputy noticed traceable amounts of suspected methamphetamine. The aggregated gross weight was 2.0 grams. The bicycle was booked into evidence for safekeeping, and the man was taken to jail, the report states. The man told the deputy he had been in Carson City for approximately 1 month.
Due to the fact the glass pipe had traceable amounts of methamphetamine, along with the fact the man has been convicted of two felonies and has been staying in Carson City without registering as a convicted felon, he was booked for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and being an ex-felon failing to register. Bail: $3,954.
