'Ghost of Mark Twain' arrives at BAC Saturday as part of Nevada's Sesquicentennial celebration
The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City continues its July lineup of entertainment venues as part of its celebration of summer and Nevada's 150th year statehood with a visit from Mark Twain this Saturday.
What would Nevada's Sesquicentennial be without the musings of the legendary Mark Twain? Hear the Ghost of Mark Twain through the modern-day transporter McAvoy Layne on Saturday, July 19, 7:30 p.m. with special guests Shiloh.
For 26 years, in more than 4,000 performances from Leningrad University in Russia to Piper's Opera House in Virginia City, Layne has been preeminent in preserving the wit and wisdom of "The Wild Humorist of the Pacific Slope," Mark Twain.
McAvoy is the ghost of Samuel Clemens in A&E’s biography of Mark Twain, and in the Discovery Channel’s Cronkite Award winning documentary, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He is a winner of the Nevada award for excellence in school and library service, and author of a soon to be published memoir, Becoming Mark Twain.
Tickets are $12 general admission, $8 for students and seniors and $6 for BAC members. For information and tickets, go here.
On Friday, July 25, the Brewery Arts Center welcomes folk Musicians Tom May and Chris Kennedy in concert beginning at 7:30 pm in the BAC Performance Hall.
Together, the artists have performed in assorted venues and concert halls. Their duo performances are laced with humor, great harmonies, fine guitar work, and both old and new songs. In 2013 Tom and Chris released a duo album "Before the Time Slips Away."
Through July 11, all three of the performances have a 2 for 1 ticket special (use the code: summerfun to get this special if you purchase online). For more information or to purchase tickets go to www.breweryarts.org, call 775-883-1976 or contact us at tami@breweryarts.org.
