Truckee Meadows Fire update on Jasper Fire: crews work into the night on containment
UPDATE SUNDAY: Crews worked overnight toward securing the fire perimeter, according to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District. As of around 6 a.m. containment was at 30 percent. Command has been transferred to Sierra Front Type 3 Incident Management Team. According to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center, the fire burned around 800 acres.

The Truckee Meadows Fire District advised those near the ongoing Jasper Fire should be prepared to evacuate at any time.
In a tweet sent out Saturday they said:
“For those in the impacted areas of the #JasperFire (Spanish Springs, west of Pyramid HWY), please remain vigilant. If you feel you need to evacuate, please do so. Now is a good time to prepare and have a “go bag” ready.”
So far, the Jasper Fire has burned hundreds of acres, says Truckee Fire.
An evacuation center is being set up at Hug High School in preparation.
Washoe County Regional Animal Services is also on site providing space for residents with pets. Larger animals and livestock can be taken to the Reno Livestock Events Center.
