One injured in north Carson City water main break
A private contractor working in the Silver Oak area installing main connections on the water pipeline serving the extreme northwest portion of Carson City ruptured the line Monday morning sending one person to the hospital with moderate injuries, according to Carson City Public Works.
The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. Water service to the extreme northwest portion of Carson City was interrupted.
Carson City Public Works’ crews responded immediately and shut down the leaking main. Public Works’ crews rerouted water and restored service to the area at a lower than usual pressure.
The Nevada Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of Safe Drinking Water was on site working with Carson City Environmental staff. The safety and quality of the water supply was not compromised. Normal system operation was restored at approximately 1 p.m., according to public works.
Residents may see aesthetic issues such as discolored water due to naturally occurring minerals in the water system. Cloudy or milky water may also be observed due to air in the system. The water is safe for consumption. All aesthetic issues are expected to clear up in 12-24 hours.
