Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Deputies make DUI and drug related arrests

A Mound House woman was arrested early Saturday in the area of Highway 50 and Centennial Park on felony suspicion of possessing a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Kristian Ashley Sickler, 27, was booked into custody at 1:58 a.m. According to the arrest report, officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle in which a warrant was attached to the owner. The officer spoke with the driver who would not answer who the passenger in the vehicle was.

A K9 unit was called to the scene and an exterior sniff of the vehicle came back with a positive alert. Deputies conducted a vehicle search of the vehicle and located a marijuana jar in the passenger door, a small white case with several blue pills, a razor, mirror and straw. In the woman’s person officers located a small amount of marijuana, a 20mg Oxycodone pill and a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with 12 rounds in the magazine. Bail: $20,000.

— A 46-year-old Carson City woman, Katina Flynn, was arrested Friday, 7:59 p.m. in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road on felony suspicion of being in possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. A felony probation hold was also placed on the woman. She’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 47-year-old Carson City jail inmate, Scott Crum, faces a felony charge of battery on an officer after an incident in his cell on Friday where he allegedly kicked, punched and scratching deputies. Bail: $20,000.

— Two men were arrested Friday, 5:27 p.m. in the area of Rand and Long stress on felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Arrested were Wayne Dean Fillmore and, 25, and Jesse Russell Richardson, 28. Fillmore also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Bail $5,500. Richardson also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.

— A 43-year-old Carson City woman, Elizabeth Sears, was arrested Friday, 11:19 p.m. in the 900 block of Colorado Street on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. Bail: $2,500.

— A 27-year-old man was arrested Friday in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway on a Douglas County warrant alleging attempting to elude a police officer. Bail: $5,000.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 5:51 a.m. in the 400 block of East William Street on suspicion of DUI and violation of bail conditions. According to the arrest report, officers observed the man peel out as he left the parking lot at a fast food restaurant. During the traffic stop, the man appeared grossly intoxicated. He agreed to field sobriety tests and failed all tests. He was also in violation of pretrial supervision, where provisions included not to drink. Bail: $4,137.

Meanwhile, officers also arrested a Florida man who was across the street from the incident and was ordered to stay back during the DUI investigation. The man would not comply and entered the roadway, crossing the street after being told not to do so. He also was grossly intoxicated and kept interrupting and not following directions. He was arrested on suspicion of being an intoxicated pedestrian. Bail: $72.

— A 28-year-old Texas woman was arrested Saturday, 5:12 a.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Empire Ranch Road on suspicion of DUI and driving without headlights. According to the arrest report, officers made a traffic stop after observing the vehicle the woman was driving did not have its headlights on.

The driver had an odor of alcohol and slurred speech. She said she had been drinking earlier in the night at a bar with her friends who were also in the vehicle. She provided a preliminary breath test of .096. At jail she consented to a blood draw. Bail: $1,209.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man turned himself in to Carson City Jail on Friday, 5:40 p.m. on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued March 22, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

NV Energy reports 2,636 customers without power Monday morning in Carson City. The outage was reported at 9:46 a.m. At this time there is not an estimated time of restoration. The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE 5PM: Fire crews will be mopping up the Callahan Fire overnight and into tomorrow. One primary residential structure was lost along with multiple outbuildings. The cause is under investigation at this time. Some fire evacuations remain in place at Callahan Rd and Fawn Lane as crews mop up hot spots. See Perimetermap.com here for evacuation updates.

UPDATE 12:55PM: The fire is estimated at approximately 100 acres; approximately 3,000 people have been impacted by evacuations. Rain is falling on the fire scene. Additional Strike Teams totaling 10-15 engines have begun arriving to assist on the fire, according to Eastern Sierra Fire and Ice, which tracks fires in the region.

Just before 11 a.m. on Monday, the Washoe County Alert system sent out an evacuation notice to residents in the Callahan Ranch area stating they should evacuate immediately.

The evacuation point is at South Valleys Library located at 15650A Wedge Pkwy, Reno.

Dayton Elementary students were treated Friday to a helicopter fly-in by the Nevada National Guard as part of the school's Veterans Day program.

A team from Nevada National Guard landed a helicopter on the soccer field after the school's Veterans Day assembly. Dayton Elementary is the only school in Lyon County that is a Purple Star School.

Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11 and is a federal holiday to honor all veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces. A number of events are planned in Carson City and surrounding counties.

Charle Abowd, a world renowned, award-winning chef and restaurateur but even more than that a philanthropist and community fixture for decades, died Saturday evening, according to longtime friends.
