Haze from Electra Fire smoke possible into Lake Tahoe and western Nevada
The National Weather Service in Reno is monitoring smoke drift and haze from the Electra Fire in Amador County, Calif., on the west slope of the Sierra southwest of Lake Tahoe.
Smoke models indicate wind trajectories could spread smoke and haze into the Lake Tahoe Basin, Alpine County and parts of far western Nevada late Wednesday afternoon and evening and into Thursday.
However, the latest satellite and web cameras show much less smoke coverage, likely due to two days of aggressive suppression efforts, according to the weather service in its latest forecast discussion.
The fire, which started Monday, has burned 3,900 acres and was 10 percent contained as of Wednesday morning, according to Cal Fire.
