Carson City sheriff’s log: Deputies make drug, theft arrests

A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday on felony drug charges after officers found methamphetamine and pills inside the mans’s vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Aaron Borecki was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, both felonies, and lesser charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and hypodermic needles.

According to the arrest report, deputies were sent to the Dollar Store in the 3000 block of Highway 50 East in reference to a suspicious person who was thought to be involved in a drug deal. He was sitting in a red Subaru Forrester in front of the business when deputies arrived.

Officers found the man seated in the driver’s seat with the driver’s door opened and window rolled down. Deputies approached the doors, with one observing drug paraphernalia in plain view, the arrest report states.

Borecki was taken out of the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. Subsequently, a metal spoon and used syringe were found between the center console and the driver’s side seat. On the spoon was a used piece of cotton used to inject narcotics. An empty small plastic baggie was also in the center console along with several pieces of small crystal flakes, believed to be methamphetamine.

On the passenger seat was a pill container with several pills. There wasn’t a label on the container. A deputy then found a black backpack on the rear seat. In the interior compartment were several hypodermic syringes. In an outside comparator there was one syringe. He was taken to jail for booking and read his Miranda rights.

He waived his rights and admitted to possession of all items. He said the pills were nonprescription Ambien. Deputies ran a check on the pills that were determined to be Zolpidem-tartrate, a schedule 4 narcotic sedative that requires a prescription. Bail: $9,774.

In other arrests:
— A 40-year-old Minden man was arrested Monday, 3:31 a.m. in the area of Stewart and William streets on a misdemeanor charge, ex-felon failing to register. Bail: $242.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 6:57 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny. According to the arrest report, loss prevention said they watched the man and a 15-year-old girl put $75 worth of electronic items in a purse. They did not pay for the items and walked out the door.

Loss prevention stopped them and took them to the security office. They declined to press charges against the girl. Her mother was contacted and she was released after being trespassed from Walmart, the arrest report states.

Security signed a citizen arrest form for the 19-year-old man. A deputy read him his Miranda rights and he agreed to speak. He said he did not want to pay for the items so they put them in the girl’s purse and tried to leave the store. The suspect had approximately $115 in his pockets. He said the money did not belong to him, adding that he went into Walmart to get items that he knew he didn’t have any money for.

Store security advised deputies that the man had said three times that he would kill himself when he returned home. He denied to the officer that he was suicidal but said he had severe depression and anxiety, the arrest report states. Bail: $352.

— A 26-year-old Carson City man and inmate at Carson City Jail was booked Sunday, 7:48 p.m. on a misdemeanor theft charge. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly stole another inmate’s calling card account information to make phone calls from the jail. Prior to the charge, the man had already been suspended for 30 days due to him stealing another inmate’s Calling Solutions account information. Bail: $637.
