Carson City Song Circle hosts July 4 potluck at Rafter PM Ranch, fireworks to follow at Mills Park
Celebrate July 4 with patriotic songs and fireworks. The Carson City Song Circle invites the public to its Independence Day song and barbecue celebration. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. at Rafter PM Ranch, 5000 Hells Bells Road, Carson City.
The potluck barbecue follows between 7:30 to 9 p.m. on the patio. At 9 p.m., the folding chairs will be moved a few steps to a field looking west toward the fireworks at Mills Park and Carson High. Organizers recommend bringing a folding chair as there will be a limited number of chairs available at the ranch.
All are invited. Guests should bring a salad, side dish, dessert or beverage. Song Circle Host Michael Bell will provide the meat. Songbooks are still available for loan or purchase. Instruments are welcome, as always.
Meanwhile, a fireworks spectacular with plenty of music to go along with the light show will begin around dusk at Mills Park in Carson City. For the first time there will be a fireworks show set to music courtesy of Carson City Toyota-Scion and Cumulus Radio. If you're watching at another location, tune your FM radio dial to Magic 95.5 for the full sound, lights and fireworks effect.
The RSVP carnival continues today through July 6 at Mills Park. RSVP holds three fundraising carnivals each year to support the Home Companion, Respite Care and Lifeline programs that assist Nevada seniors who are remaining independent and in their own homes.
